The Tulip Farm in Woodburn, Oregon

Last weekend we spontaneously decided to drive south to the tulip farm in Woodburn, OR about 45 minutes from Portland. Tulips are one of my favorite flowers, if not my favorite, and I had never been to a tulip farm before. I always dreamed to go visit one in Holland; so when I found out recently that there was one just 40min from here I got so excited. And it did not disappoint.

It had been a few rainy days so when at 4pm last Sunday there was a break in the clouds and some sunshine, Josh said we should drive to the tulip farm. I was totally unprepared and complained. I love adventure, I will accept a skydiving, scuba diving, zip lining, and sailing invitation in a heartbeat, but at the same time I love planning. I guess I like planned adventure. I wasn’t ready and what if it rained again? In spite of my complaining, I got ready and off we went.

We saw a couple amazing rainbows on the way, and drove by a few showers but sure enough, when we arrived at the tulip farm the weather was pretty perfect.

When we arrived at the gate, however, we didn’t realize it was 10 dollars per car. I had $6.50 in cash and we didn’t have enough in the card, but luckily, the lady let us through so that we could use the wifi near the gift shop to transfer money (we use Paypal and transfers are instant), and use their ATM to take out some cash. This is why I like planning, to avoid these problems, but luckily it all turned out okay.

The tulips were truly amazing.

I promise you, these photos were not taken in Holland.
