Sharing My World – Travel, Life and Spices

Here are this week’s questions over at Cee’s Share Your World Challenge:

What object do you always have with you when traveling and why?

Several things actually: Pen, ibuprofen, chapstick, kleenex, chewing gum and camera. I think the reasons are pretty obvious.

What subject would you like to study in depth, if given the time to do so?

I would love to learn gardening. I had never had the chance because I’ve either mostly lived in apartments in big cities, or I’m always on the move, but I just love plants and flowers and I would love to learn to plant and grow them, and vegetables and herbs too. I feel like it would be the perfect activity for my personality and it would give me a lot of peace.

Which would you prefer: a wild, turbulent life filled with joy, sorrow, passion, and adventure–intoxicating successes and stunning setbacks; or a contented bordering on happy, secure, predictable life surrounded by friends and family without such wide swings of fortune and mood?

Prooobably the latter. I prefer a no drama, happy, life. My life is not like that however, at least it hasn’t been since 2008, full of ups and downs, adventures and unpredictability, but paradoxically, I have no regrets and wouldn’t change my life, so.. who knows.

What are your favorite spices?

I love cooking and spices. I use quite a bit of them. Some of my favorite would be oregano, cumin, and ginger. The first two are probably because of my Mexican roots. I sprinkle dry oregano on fried eggs and grilled cheese sandwiches and it makes them so much better. I also love cayenne on sweet potato fries, red pepper flakes on pizza, garlic powder on buttered toast, and sea salt on any chocolate dessert.

What are your favorite spices?

  3. Oh I love that you said gardening! I used to do that so much as a kid, but as an adult I don’t have much time…or a yard! Maybe I will plant some herbs this summer!

  4. I’m fond of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and cardamom. Oregano is pretty yummy too. I’ll have to try sprinkling it more things as you do!
