This Week’s Small Pleasures #19

happycollagesept

Here are the things that made me happy this week:

1. I decided I needed to start working out. Coincidentally, my husband had recently received a 40$ gift certificate for Adidas and a pass to the Adidas Employee Store in Portland where everything is 50% off. I scored $170 dollar sneakers for $40. I am an outsider though, because Portland is the land of Nike.

2. I started working out! This week I started a 1 week free trial to Crossfit classes. Last time I worked out (without counting a few exercises at home) was about a year ago when I was taking Ballet classes in North Carolina.

3. Last week I ordered a water bottle on amazon just because I wanted a water bottle. It arrived this week. Little did I know, I was really going to need one now that I decided to workout! It was perfect timing, like my subconscious knew before me.

4. Homemade baked mac and cheese, again. I think this might become a Friday night tradition. We’ll see.

5. Spending a wonderful spontaneous day trip in Astoria eating fish and chips, riding the touristy historic trolley, enjoying the perfect weather and joining the artwalk.

What made you happy this week?

  1. Congrats on you new work out gear and workout mindset! Any chance you’ll share your Mac and cheese recipe? I’m always on the look out for a good one (even though I have to workout twice says hard the days I eat it!)

    1. Thanks! And absolutely, I made this recipe twice in two weeks. It was absolutely delicious. The only things I did different was add a little smoked paprika to the panko mixture and I added 2-3 tsps of dijon mustard to the sauce when it was ready and before pouring it over the pasta. I also halved the recipe and it worked out perfectly. Oh and I used a little less water than it said. hehe

      1. Thanks so much! I tend to add a shake of cayenne pepper when I make mine but I will keep the paprika in mind 🙂

  5. I’m doing ballet class at the moment (without the pointe shoes). All the best with the cross-fit classes.

    1. How absolutely wonderful! Ballet is one of my very favorite things in the world. I have taken classes on and off in my life since I was little. Last time was about a year and a half ago.

  6. I wish, I pray and desire to start working out, only just in my mind. But then you’d never know, I’m sure I’ll lose some weight somehow. 🙂 maybe that will be my next weekly small pleasures http://imanikingblog.wordpress.com/2014/10/17/weekly-small-pleasures-2/
