India is a country of great variations. No matter what you think of when you think of India, it’s impossible to have an accurate image of the country until you’ve travelled to the country. If you’re going there soon, here are some of the most interesting destinations in India to visit.
Darjeeling
The green hills of Darjeeling are beautiful, and you won’t regret seeing them when you get there. It is the area of India that produces the most popular kind of tea in the world too. There are lots of very popular hill resorts, and the area is very popular among people who enjoy hiking in the natural environment. It’s home to the world’s third highest peak, Kanchenjunga. It’s a challenge to climb it, but experienced climbers and hikers love a new challenge.
Kashmir
The scenic beauty that you find when you arrive in Kashmir will take your breath away. It’s not what you will probably expect from a location in India either. It defies all expectations for people who have never been to the country before. It is in a weird location and became disputed territory after the end of colonial rule, meaning it remains separate from the rest of India. It’s in the northwest region. And the landscape is covered in snow for a good part of the year. You should visit it simply to get a new perspective on the country.
Goa
Goa is completely different from the side of India that you see in Kashmir. It’s a location known for its great weather and stunning beaches. The tall, towering palm trees can even trick you into believing you’re in Los Angeles, rather than western India. The sands of the beaches are golden, making the area perfect for anyone who wants to kick back and relax. And because the region is next to the sea, the local cuisine is fantastic. The seafood is as good as any food you’ll eat in Asia.
Delhi
Delhi is the capital of the country, and thanks to the interesting attractions and landmarks, it’s an essential place to visit. It’s home to the India Gate, which is a landmark that was put in place to commemorate those who died in the Imperial Wars. And there’s a World Heritage Site at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Jaipur and Udaipur
Jaipur and Udaipur are located in Rajasthan. And the reason why you should visit this part of India is because the cultural and historical attractions are so fascinating. Some of the ancient buildings and structures are like nothing else you’ll find anywhere in the entire world. For example, Hawa Mahal (also known as Palace of Winds) draws tourists from all over the world thanks to its unique design. Another place in the region you have to visit is The Lake Palace of Udaipur. It’s one of the most amazing palaces in the world.

i love seeing you still posting about india! i was wondering though if you we’re ever planning on moving back? i’m sure you’ve answered this before or posted, so sorry if this is a repetitive question. i was also wondering the reason you left, maybe you could point me to the post where you explain? thanks!

All but Darjeeling. I was planning to catch up on that destination on my next trip but it’s going to be 0 degrees when I arrive, so I’m heading south instead.

0 degrees was the temperature one day wehre I live in the US before I came to Mexico for my trip. It’s not that bad! hehe especially if you like the mountains. But the South should be great too.

Like Mdme. Stanley writes above, the South is better in so many ways, which includes Goa, of course, but it is also more commercial than the other places around here. The best yet? Andaman and Nicobar islands, nothing like that as a destination 🙂

Well, it is at the end of the great barrier reef chain, so lots of corals, lots of marine life and even the islands are quite beautiful. I used to live there, but not sure how far they have ruined it now 😦 You will love it for sure. A little like the marine paradises you see off Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand (close to Thailand, in fact, one end of the archipelago)

They are really beautiful you should definitely try though they are quite expensive. Yep, do you know ?? The only tribal people who doesn’t have contact to the outside world still lives there !!
