With all the snow falling in Portland in the last couple of days, I’ve been in a snow craze and inspired by it I started thinking about all the places I’ve seen snow around the world.
I have experienced snow in 9 different places across a few different countries. In chronological order, here are photos of the places where I’ve had the pleasure to play with snow.
1. Vail, Colorado, USA
I was very young the first time my parents took me here to learn skiing. I remember asking my mom if I could swim in the outdoor pool, which had pieces of ice swimming in it. Somehow, my mom agreed (I never found out her true plan), but I lasted only a couple of minutes in it, and my older brother had to suffer for me, because they didn’t allow me to swim by myself.
2. NYC, USA
I was maybe about 12 years old when I was with my mom and my brother in some building in NYC and suddenly the snow started to fall. There was a big window where we could see it from inside. It was a nice moment.

3. Whistler, BC, Canada
At some point in time, my family decided to try Whistler for skiing instead of our traditional Vail, and it was amazing. We returned 3 years in a row. I really miss those trips.
4. Val d’Isere, France
In 2007, one of my best friends invited me to go ski with her family in France. It was a blast.
5. London, England
I lived here for a year, and got to hang out with London’s snow before I went back home for the holidays.

6. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA
This is where I first saw snow on a beach. I don’t know how common this is, but it snowed when my husband and I were there in the winter of 09-10.

7. Durham, North Carolina, USA
My hubby and I experienced two winters with snowfalls in Durham in 2010 and 2011. These pictures were taken at the Duke Gardens, in Durham.
8. In The Air, USA
I got see snow from above flying from Portland to Dallas on a recent trip.
9. Portland, Oregon, USA
You’ve heard me say it too much. It’s snowing in Portland!
I was not expecting Myrtle Beach!

Well, I’ve experienced snow in many parts of Canada but not yet in U.S. I just haven’t been to the U.S. when it snowed. Nor Europe –even though I’ve been there 3 times.
Glad you enjoyed Whistler, BC.
