The week started off bad because or car got broken into and hubby’s laptop was stolen, which is a big deal because he is a computer programmer. It sucked. It also sucked that today my NFL team lost and is out for the season. But in spite of the bad, we had many other good things happen this week:
1. Berliner Weisse! Almost 7 years ago I went backpacking in Europe. In Berlin (Germany), my friend and I took a bike tour which ended at a beer garden. We ordered a Berliner Weisse and it was once of the best drinks I’ve ever had. It consists of a German sour wheat beer served with raspberry syrup to balance the sourness. I don’t remember ever seeing it anywhere else. Last Tuesday, hubby and I went to an independent movie theater where they serve alcohol. They had Berliner Weisse in the menu! And it was frickin’ amazing.
2. I made a nice homemade exotic dinner: West African chicken stew, coconut rice and “belly dance” beet and pistachio salad.
3. I won Best Travel Blog 2014 in NepaliAustralian blog awards!
4. Hubby’s birthday was on Saturday, and we both had a wonderful day celebrating by eating at our favorite brunch spot, watching a movie at a very cool theater and, somehow, he ended up buying me some very cute new boots on his birthday. We randomly entered a vintage/used clothing store downtown and found the perfect boots that were just my size, which is rare because I have tiny feet. We spent $40 on $200-worth boots. We were not looking to shop, but hubby insisted. He also loved the birthday present I got him. An all in all very enjoyable and happy day. What made you happy this week?
