A Sunset Sail

No matter what the season, a sunset sail provides an incredible view of the architectural highlights of New York including the skyscrapers, empire state building, and the iconic Statue of Liberty. The sunset cruises often come with cocktails and a blanket for chillier evenings, and it is truly romantic.

But one of the things to consider is that there are plenty of other people in search of the ideal romantic spot, and this means you’re not going to be alone on this romantic cruise. And indeed, it could feel as cheesy as being in a romantic restaurant on Valentine’s Night. The trick, therefore, is to try to do this mid-week when the cruises are less busy, or if you can afford to, charter a small boat for just the two of you!

Catch A Show

There is a smorgasbord of decent comedy clubs in New York City; and a good option is the Comedy Cellar where you never know who will perform that night until you get there. This is a more interesting way to experience comedy than the well-rehearsed show because it’s often used as a testing ground for new material from the like of Chris Rock and Amy Schumer.

If comedy isn’t your thing, however, there are tons of Broadway shows, many of which have last minute availability and often, last-minute tickets are some of the cheapest tickets available, meaning you don’t need to plan in advance – unless you want to see a specific show and are only in New York City for a short time.

Walk the Brooklyn Bridge

This iconic landmark is one of the oldest bridges in the United States, and at 1,595 feet it’s a fair distance in consideration of how exposed it can be during adverse weather. In winter, this can be a truly lovely experience though, as after braving the bracing winds with your arms wrapped around each other, you can enjoy a mug of mulled wine and some roasted chestnuts from a traditional street vendor on the other side.

Stroll around Central Park

Take a long walk, holding hands, in iconic Central Park enjoying the surroundings, and when hunger strikes grab a bite to eat and stop at a grassy spot for a picnic. If you’re animal lovers, check out the Central Park Zoo. You’ll find all sorts of animals including some you really wouldn’t expect to find in the middle of the world’s busiest park; such as polar bears.

People Watch at Grand Central Station

There’s something incredibly romantic about this station, and it’s a great place to just have a coffee and watch the world go by. It was the filming location for one of the most played wedding songs of all time; “You and Me” by Lifehouse, which in the music video points out how great the spot is for people watching.

In summary, New York is many things for many different people – and if you’re looking for a romantic city break it certainly is one of the best places in the USA to visit.

  1. Hey Mani. I have a couple of suggestions to add here.
There are several super cool and vintage speakeasy’s to find. They all have a secret entrance and wonderful decore that help to take you back to the prohibition and fancy drinks to boot.
Another idea is the roof top cinema in Brooklyn which plays movies complete with outdoor drinks, popcorn and a stunning view. See my post here if you like. https://wordpress.com/post/kpardell.com/5872
