Weekly Small Pleasures #114

This week became too hot for my taste and I had quite a bit of physical pain and discomfort, but there were definitely some small pleasures I enjoyed. 

1. Doctor Who.

It’s been a while! I’ve been trying to catch up on this series for almost a couple years now. It’s been about 6 months since I last saw an episode! This week, I turned to where I last stopped. The Christmas Special between series 8 and 9. Now I get to start series 9 and then the newest series 10 🙂 Who knows how long it’ll take me to get to series 10.

2. Frank Turner.

Whenever I shuffle my full Spotify library and a Frank Turner song comes up, it makes me happy. I never skip his songs. I don’t know why I like his music so much, but I do.

3. Rainy weather.

At the beginning of the week we had cloudy, rainy, and thunderstormy weather. Loved it. Then it got hot again :s I had an especially nice moment last Monday, when I was playing the mandolin during that time late afternoon when it starts to get dark and if you don’t turn on the lights you end up in a dark room. Meanwhile, I had the window open, and it started to rain. Then lightning began, lighting the room every time. The apt seemed quiet and peaceful while I played and the sound of rain accompanied me. Just a really lovely long moment, if you’re into rainy weather and calm evenings.

4. Funny movie. 

Watched The Secret Life of Pets on Netflix. It’s a silly animated movie, for children and adults alike. While not the greatest movie ever, it made me laugh several times, and it was the perfect light-hearted movie to watch.

5. Brunch and bakery.

We typically go for brunch once a week. And we typically go to the same place which is near my favourite bakery. But last week we went to a different place, and the week before, the bakery street was closed. Anywho, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve been able to get my favourite chocolate chunk cookie in town. And I did this weekend 🙂
