Weekly Small Pleasures #115

Skipped a week, so I’ll include things from the last two weeks. I keep this up because it is quite nice to look back to the nice moments during the week, however small. No matter how hard things get, there is always something to be grateful for.

1. Sherlock

Some time ago, a friend told me there was a new season of Sherlock out. The news were exciting but it wasn’t until last week that I saw it because I found out it was on Netflix! I do love it when I can stream my favourite shows instead of download them. This season was great. The writing is just so good. It even made me wish I was a talented writer. Inspiring.

2. Broadway

I love going to the theater. But it’s pricey, Broadway is at least. So is ballet, another favourite. But last weekend we went to a show called Something Rotten, a witty, funny story set in the 1590s about two brothers trying to make it in theater, with Shakespeare as their rival.

I bought tickets for us a month ago (with money made from this blog, by the way.) Which is another pleasure in itself. When I first started blogging I never thought I’d make money from it. Now I can actually afford to pay some bills, buy groceries, and buy some rare treats like Broadway tickets, and smaller ones like paying for brunch every now and then.

3. When the AC worked again.

One night this week the AC stopped working in the middle of the night and I had the worst night I’ve had in a while. Barely slept. Even the cat was up and concerned, meowing around. At one point in the middle of the night, my husband asked me to stop pacing and lie down and try to relax because I was making him feel bad. I was getting up from bed over and over, to see if I could play around with the AC and make it work, to pee, and just plainly because I couldn’t sleep.

Vincy, our cat also relaxed after I petted his head and face with wet hands. So when around 3 pm the next day, the AC man came to fix the AC, it was pretty glorious. It was the flux capacitor… I mean, the capacitor :p. Needed replacing. Texas heat, man. It gets to me.

4. More riverside walks.

I’m sure gonna miss them (when we move out in a few months.)

5. Brownie!

I love brownies. I made a couple batches recently but they’re “healthy” and tasty, but it’s just not the same as a good fudgey chocolatey brownie. On Friday after dinner at home, I really wanted dessert. As usual. But this time, hubby actually helped me satisfy my craving and offered that we go somewhere. I didn’t want too much hassle, so we went to this nearby bakery I knew about because it’s near the studio where I used to take aerial silks.

We went, and I got a delicious fudgey brownie, with no nuts ;). Big enough to last me for two servings on two different days.

Have a great week!
