All countries have created laws to keep us safe and secure. Some laws are to prevent bad things from happening again. Some laws are to avoid chaos, disturbance, and anarchy. And if you’re a cynic, some laws were probably created to have control over the population and meet the agendas of people in power. There are some very weird laws out there, but what can be even weirder is some of the things you can legally do around the world.
In Quitman, Georgia I’m sure they have several more “why did the chicken cross the road?” jokes, as it is actually against the law for chickens to cross the road there. And you definitely don’t want to cut down a cactus in Arizona or you could be sentenced to 25 years in prison. And in Alaska, it’s illegal to give a beer to a moose. But if you want to share your cookie, go ahead.
But the U.S. is not the only place with weird laws. Across the pond in the UK, it’s illegal to suspiciously hold a salmon. Sounds fishy, but it’s true. If you like chewing gum, forget about bringing it to Singapore as it’s one of the many items that aren’t allowed to be imported into this country. And if you’re having a baby in Denmark, you’ll have to stay away from weird names and follow the naming guidelines.

Speaking of names, forget about naming your pig Napoleon in France. Although according to the Business Insider: “As of 2013 it’s no longer a criminal offence, but you’d better stick with the name Wilbur if you want to avoid charges from the country’s strict slander and defamation laws.”
Now, what about those weird things you can legally do around the world? Did you ever want to marry your dog? Head over to India. And if you always dreamt about attaching a flamethrower to your car, you can do so in South Africa.
You know how your mom said you can be anything when you grow up? In Russia, this is true. On the Russian census you can put down anything you want under ethnicity. That includes dragon, alien, and minion. Check out the infographic below to read about more weird things you can legally do abroad.
