Summer officially started this week and Austin definitely got the memo. With almost daily highs in 100s F I’m not a happy girl. I really can’t take the heat very well and it’s sad my daily riverside walks had to stop because it’s like 90s already by 10 am and doesn’t really start to cool off until 8 pm :(. In spite of this terrible news for me, I definitely had some small pleasures this week:
1. Yummy homemade smoothies
This week I made some really yummy smoothies that were definitely a pleasure to drink.
2. Cat snuggles
Vincent van gato normally sleeps on our bed, but it’s not often that he accompanies me for morning snuggles. He’s usually up early and doing his own thing. So it was very nice when last Friday he came over to snuggle with me for over an hour.
3. Laughing out loud
Sadly, it is not common for me to break into a laugh out loud moment, let alone it happening while I’m home alone! This week I saw something funny on the internet that made me crack up. But it was a really stupid thing, that made me think “why am I finding this so funny?”. I was actually
I was actually on a rare good mood that day, so that probably helped. Yes, a good mood is rare. Most of the time it’s just “neutral”, with occasional grumpiness or sadness, but an actual good mood is rare. Is this common?
4. Rain
Given how hot the week was, it was very lovely to have some rain on a Saturday morning and some cloudy and partly sunny skies through the weekend. It definitely got warm but not insanely warm.
5. Date night.
It’s funny how I recently blogged about eating out and mentioned how we never go out for dinner. This weekend we did! I don’t remember the last time we actually went out for dinner. We went to an Italian restaurant and it was lovely.
I didn’t even pick the restaurant, which was refreshing. I went to get groceries on Saturday, while hubby stayed home and picked a restaurant and made reservations. When I got back, he wanted me to check out the menu before we went because I sometimes take a while to decide, but I didn’t want to. I normally look at menus to pick restaurants not to pick what I’m going to order because I don’t know what I’ll be in the mood for.
Ordering wasn’t a problem. I couldn’t partake in lovely wine and house-made limoncello but my risotto and gelato were outstanding.
See what others were happy about:

Have a great week! And I hope you enjoy the summer a lot more than I do. We’ve got several months ahead.
