Weekly Small Pleasures #128

My mom came to town for almost two weeks and left three days ago. It’s always a busy time when she’s here. In a good way. So I skipped a week again (or was it two?) and will definitely have to include small pleasures from those skipped weeks. Here we go:

1. An extra pair of hands

Since Naja was born, it’s been me and her all day except for evenings and weekends because dad works and we have no family here. So, I’ve been juggling taking care of a newborn and the home. Having my mom here for two weeks was a huge help. I was able to go out and run errands, and I was able to take it easy at home and do what I needed to do without feeling like I was in a hurry to do everything that I needed done.

2. Thanksgiving

My mom ended up cooking a whole Thanksgiving meal in our home. It was lovely.

3. Christmas

The day after Thanksgiving, we bought a tree. ‘Cause yay Christmas. It really is my favourite time of year. Lighting up the fireplace, the cooler weather, choosing gifts (I enjoy really thinking to give someone a unique gift they’ll love), …

4. Going to the movies!

This for me is more than a small pleasure. It’s a great one. I looove going to the movies, I really do. And I haven’t been in over 5 months! The last couple of months of my pregnancy I avoided it because I was afraid of the loud noise disturbing and maybe even damaging my baby’s hearing. (Which is not a ridiculous thing by the way.) And after she was born, well, there was no way to go since I’m glued to feed her every 2.5 hours still (thankfully longer at night now).

But I was able to leave a bottle with my mom so she could babysit while Josh and I went to see Coco. I refuse to give Naja formula, unless medically necessary. Anywho, it was absolutely wonderful to go out to the movies. The movie was great too.

5. Her first laugh

Naja surprised us with her first full on laugh last weekend during bathtime. Almost exactly when she turned 3 months old. She loves bathtime and this particular night she was going wild, smiling and splashing everywhere. She started laughing which made us laugh and she kept on going for a while. It was so fun.

See what others were happy about:
