It’s not always permitted to actually camp anywhere you want, so it’s important that you make sure that you are complying with local rules. The last thing you want to be doing is trying to wild camp when it ends up camping on somebody’s private land.
Learn how to pitch a tent before you leave.
Before you decide to go wild camping you need to make sure that you understand exactly how to pitch your tent. Doing this will mean you are not caught short while you camp and you will be able to have your tent ready in no time at all. Get rid of all stones and other blunt objects so you don’t sleep on anything uncomfortable.
Learn to light a fire.

If you are wild camping you need to make sure you understand the rules of the land and that you will be allowed to actually light a fire. Nobody wants to be in complete darkness with no light and no warmth. It’s often forbidden to actually light fires in open spaces so you have to ensure that you comply with the correct regulations for the area that you are in. Otherwise, you could end up finding that you are offered a hefty fine because of it.
Clean up your mess.
When you are camping you should be respecting the land and that means cleaning up after yourself as you go. Don’t leave rubbish, don’t leave leftover fire, and make sure that you pour cold water over any sites of fire that you have built. The last thing that you need is anybody hurting themselves on the fire that you have built.
