So many people want to find love. They want to find a partner to share their lives with. They want this so much that they go to great lengths to try to achieve this (like applying to be in The Bachelor.) Some people don’t even know how to be alone and are always in need to be in a relationship, sometimes this leads to really bad relationships.
I am fortunate to say that I found my soulmate, and I did in a pretty early stage of my life.
I will tell you the secret to finding a soulmate, but not yet.
First, how do you know he/she is your soulmate?
You know how people say “you’ll know.” Well it’s true. You will know and there will be no doubt in your mind. When there is no doubt in your mind or your heart, that is it. When you are willing to sacrifice for that love, that is it, when you are willing to put their happiness first, that is it, when you are ready to turn your life upside down to be with them, that is it. If they are your soulmate, you will know pretty early on. I knew for sure just after two weeks.
Another sign is that you feel so comfortable with them from the beginning. Nothing is forced between you too, it just feels natural. It feels like you’ve known each other for years.
The truth is that you can’t know when you will find this person. It might happen pretty quick, or it might take a little longer but don’t fret.
So, what is the secret?
Don’t be looking.
I wasn’t looking when I found him. In fact, I was in a relationship when I did. And even though we didn’t get together after a year of meeting each other, I just knew that he was going to be “the one”. It has been six years since we met , we have already married twice to each other, and I have never had any doubt that we are going to be together always.
Keys to finding your soulmate:
1. Don’t be looking.
This one is important because your soulmate is not going to fit your checklist if you have one. He/she will not be where you think. You will most probably find him/her at a very unexpected time and place.
Get rid of it whether it’s in your head or on actual paper. You know, the one that says: “tall, handsome, beautiful, smart, funny, romantic, good job, good family, good friends…” It only makes you close-minded and eventually disappointed. It makes you go into a relationship without the most important characteristic of a relationship: love. It creates your relationship more of a business transaction and when the person can’t give you what you wanted, then it’s over.
3. Be open-minded.
Your soulmate might be someone you never thought you’d end up with. This one definitely applies to me. My soulmate was of an age and nationality that I didn’t expect.
4. Be content with being single.
You don’t have to have a boyfriend/girlfriend. You don’t have to be married before 30.
I’ve had three relationships in my life. They lasted 11 months, 2 years, and currently married for 3 and half years going strong. I was always content with my singleness, I always enjoyed my friends, I never felt the need to be in a relationship and this kept me happy. You have to learn to be content being single. There are so many things you can enjoy doing while you are. Really embrace it. It is not a bad thing to be single.
If you follow these 4 simple steps, it is very easy finding a soulmate. Especially if you follow step number 1. If you are not proactively looking, there is no work to be done. Just go on with your life, go with the flow.
Doing nothing is easy. You can find your soulmate by doing nothing about it. I found mine that way.
Lastly, a soulmate doesn’t have to be a romantic relationship. Keep this in mind.
Hmmm, interesting thoughts here – some I agree with, some not – but like the whole feeling of this post!

I find that I think I even disagree with some of my points only in the sense that it might not apply to everyone haha. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Love this! And love your own comment on even disagreeing with yourself. I like your last comment about it not necessarily being a romantic relationship. This whole subject fascinates me. Recently I have been saying, “I am not sure if I believe in soulmates, but I am positive I found mine.” – Eric

Hi Eric!
I like that quote haha, it has both uncertainty and certainty. Life is full of both huh.

To have a soul mate one must believe in having a soul, or perhaps your soul mate is the one who agrees with your non beliefs!

Interesting point. I for one definitely believe in souls, and believe in soul mates, literally, as in souls that have been together in past lives. 🙂
