Weekly Small Pleasures #118

Pretty eventful week. Apartment hunting is over, and we had to take Vincent, our cat, to the vet. (Nothing serious, just a general checkup and vaccines). I’ve always hated taking my cats to the vet. I just hate seeing them suffer through the whole thing even when they do good. While that wasn’t a happy moment, here are the ones that were:

1. Cloudy Skies + Riverside Walks

I was sad that my daily walks had to reduce significantly this month because of the increased temperatures, so whenever it’s cloudy I take advantage.

2. Blue Jays

On one of my walks this week, I encountered two beautiful Blue Jays. Love those birds, it definitely put a smile to my face. I attempted to photograph them but they kept flying around.

3. New music

Super happy to hear the new album on Spotify of my favourite drummer, but I might be biased. I’m wondering which platform would be best to purchase the digital album to mostly benefit the band rather than the rich company.

4. New apartment

Our current lease ends on August. (Basically the exact same day of my due date!) Terrible timing. So, we have to move before that and suck up paying for double rent on August.

We’ve been looking online around for places since a couple months ago and couldn’t find anything that jumped out until early this week. So we went to check it out yesterday and ended up signing a lease right then and there. We needed it to be further up north closer to Josh’s work, and we needed it to have some kind of trail or park or nature path walking distance.

We found it. And since we won’t be downtown anymore, we’ll be paying less than we pay for now and have an extra bedroom and bathroom. We move-in in 3 weeks and we’ll be hiring movers for the first time ever (and we’ve moved about 9 times), cause I’m in my third trimester of pregnancy and all.

5. Gelato

After finding an apt we went to have lunch and then stopped at my favourite gelato place in Austin. This time I went with pistachio, dark chocolate, and mint chip. So good.
