Tomorrow, I am flying from Portland to Mexico City, my hometown, for a 9 day trip to visit family and friends. I have dropped by for a visit a couple times in the last couple of years, but this time I will be spending most of my trip in Acapulco.
I have been to Acapulco countless times pretty much since I was born. I probably went to Acapulco at least once for every year of my life up until about 6 years ago.

Acapulco is the go-to place for Mexicans from Mexico City, also known as chilangos, for every holiday. For many years it became a tradition for my family to spend New Year’s in Acapulco and often would spend Spring Break, summer days, and Mexico’s Independence Day in Acapulco as well.
I think you get the point.
September 16 is Mexico’s Independence Day and my family will be reunited in Acapulco for this time next week since I last was there during the 2009 New Year’s celebration.
A year ago, my older brother was living in California, I was living in India, and my younger brother was living in Canada. Now my two brothers are back in Mexico City and I am in Oregon. My mom and dad have remained in Mexico City.

I will return on the 20th of September and will write about my trip. In the meantime, I have a few posts scheduled for your entertainment.
Wish me a storm-less, earthquake-less and tsunami-less trip!
Have a great time!!! 🙂
